Section 3 - Portfolio Appraisal
Quantity
The amount of shares owned in a stock or the number of bonds owned.
Security
This is synonymous with the words stock, equities, or securities. It references
the name of the company or fixed income investment.
Unit Cost
This is the total cost per share of the stock or fixed income security including
transaction fees. The Century Management reports will show the average,
or blended price paid, if the same security was purchased more than once.
Note, for those accounts that pay a fixed brokerage fee per month or quarter
for unlimited trading, "Unit Cost" will not include this fee.
Total Cost
This is the total amount of dollars invested in the stock or fixed income security
including transaction fees. The Century Management reports will show the
average, or blended amount paid, if the same security was purchased more
than once. Note, for those accounts that pay a flat fee per month or quarter
for unlimited trading, "Total Cost" will not include this fee.
Price
This is the unit value (per share) of the security as of the date shown on
the report.
Market Value
This is the dollar value of the security as of the date shown on the report.
Pct Assets (Percentage
of Assets)
The percentage that the individual security represents of the total portfolio.
Example: If 2.68 is displayed in this column, this means 2.68% of the portfolio
is invested in this security. This percentage is calculated using the market
value of the security as of the date shown on the repot divided by the total
market value at the bottom of the report.
Year to Date Realized
Gains/Losses
This is the net amount of gains and losses from stocks sold during the calendar
year. If you have a taxable account, you will receive a detailed breakdown
of all gains and losses on a special year-end tax reconciliation report.
Year to Date Dividends
and Interest
This is the amount of all dividends and interest year-to-date.
